A doll’s house is a play that deals with the fate of Nora who is a married woman .

Nora is a female who lacks

opportunities for self fulfillment in a male dominated society. This character Nora symbolizes the status of women in
the male dominated society as it even currently stands today.

Avoids Helmer Line 1-3 To my literary text the Henrick Ibsen has embraced the use short lines by the using of the
phrase in let me go, let me get out in line 1 to reinforce on what Nora is saying since through the choices of these
words we can clearly see that Nora is not interested in what Helmer is about to say and even does not want to
associate herself with anything that Helmer is about to tell her since she has the belief that a woman is in anyway not
in a good position to defend herself from what a man says due to the fact that the society is negatively biased
towards the female gender.

Additionally Nora Remains silent while Helmer is scolding Nora and therefore the author ends up creating the mood
or tone that indeed Nora is not in a better position to involve herself in an argument This shows us that it is quite
evident that the society is negatively biased towards the women since at the time Helmer was scolding Nora all that
Nora could do was just remaining silent since the society holds it that it is unethical for a woman to defend herself
against the male-gender due to the fact that it is a male dominant society which is brought by the main focus of my
global issue gender-inequality.

Helmer
Furthermore Henrick Ibsen uses fictionalized settings in
Line 9 . to bring out the fact that Helmer does not consider the fact that Helmer himself does not see the essence of
Nora defending her actions which was forging a signature simply because Nora is a woman of whom she is
considered as to being inferior and have no place in the society of a male-dominated society.Through this gender
inequality is clearly portrayed where we can see that Nora is even not given the chance to justify her actions simply
because she rather leaves in a male dominated society

Furthermore Helmore also portrays Unappreciative traits in lines 24-26 since Helmer does not appreciate that Nora
took the initiative of forging signature but rather keeps on scolding her perhaps to show her that she did something
extremely wrong yet that’s not the case. Helmer is only doing this in order this simply because he knows that Nora
has got no power against him simply because women are considered to be persons of no importance in the society.

To my stylistic devices,
Metaphor
Helmer describes Nora as to being a miserable creature Line 11 therefore it is quite evident that Helmer does not
consider Nora as to being a person of importance but rather as a miserable creature therefore showing us that she
does not even give Nora the respect she really deserves despite being his wife since she is a female and therefore
Henrick Ibsen has used this stylistic device to create meaning that Nora is simply a person of rather no importance
and that she even does not deserve the respect she is supposed to receive simply because she is a woman of whom
we can clearly see they are been considered as to being inferior and have got no meaningful place in the society.

Furthermore Henrick Ibsen has used Imagery to vividly describe Nora in such a way that she describes herself
negatively by saying You shall not suffer for my sake you shall not take it upon yourself This shows us that even
Nora disowns herself does not believe that she might be in the right position as opposed to Helmer since Nora only
tried to save Helmer’s life by forging the signature but since Helmer does not like the idea, she doesn't even try to
defend herself but rather goes ahead by even saying that she is the one on the wrong yet that is sincerely not
supposed to be the case. Therefore through this gender inequality is portrayed by the fact that Nora who is a woman
does not believe that she has the capability to outdo a man through an argument yet she is has a got an extremely
valid reason as to why she signed the signature

Hypophora
Used in lines 4-6 we ran see Helmer asks a question and then goes ahead by answering all by himself this shows us
that he does not even wish to seek the consent of Nora regarding the issue therefore clearly depicting that gender
inequality is prevalent in their society in such a way that despite Nora being Helmer’s wife her opinion is not
considered simply because she is a woman.

Flashback
This stylistic device can be clearly seen in line 22-23 which says ( look at the print) through this we can see that
Helmer is trying to remember all the awesome things which Nora used to do but currently has turned into the
miserable characters which Helmer mentions such as a hypocrite and a liar therefore,Henrick Ibsen is tuning this
device in order to compare the current Nora who is being discussed negatively by Helmer simply because she did the
right thing to save Helmer’s life to how Nora used to be at the past being treated as a doll and all she could do was
only taking care of the house chores. This shows us that Helmer does not like the fact that Nora is capable of doing
far more important things simply because she is a woman and is not supposed to take part in the making decisions in
the society.

To my Non-literary text we have received orders not to move, this clearly depicts that there are some forms of
instructions that do control and even torchure women and that the woman does not have the right to freedom since
she does not take it well that females do deserve a good treatment like the male gender.

Furthermore, we can clearly see that the subject is a woman and therefore this shows us that the artist of this image,
Barbara Kruger is trying to use her work to show us how women are taken advantage of and mistreated simply
because of her gender as well as Barbara Kruger has also done the art in such a way that we can see the suffering
the woman is going through, this shows us that indeed women were going through hardships due to the fact that by
then gender equality was never considered which is supposed not be the case

From this image we can also see the nails that are all over her back and this now depicts the kind of physical pain
that this woman is going through though can not be easily figured out. Through these depictions Barbra Kruger is
trying to show us that indeed this woman is going through hardships but have to remain silent since they have got no
escape through.

Furthermore, from the same image we can also tell by the posture of the woman in this image that she is being
humbled by the pain she is going through which happens to be the main cause of her suffering. On top of that, Barbra
Kruger has also done the image using a red border and this is used to depict danger that everything is not in place
and something should really be done for the sake of the female gender which does make them suffer and that is why
Barbra Kruger is trying to user her work in order to find a sustainable solution in order to curb gender inequality.

In addition to that, the image is in black and white therefore this reveals the time in which the image was done which
was in the year 1982 therefore it is fair to conclude that during that particular time women used to be mistreated and
taken advantage of simply because of the gender they they belong to which links back to my global issue impact of
gender-inequality in the society since from the date in which this particular art was done, it is clear that women used
to be treated in an unfair manner and that is why Barbra Kruger did this image.

To my conclusion, it is vividly clear that both subjects from my texts go through suffering but have to endure it since
they have got no escape through since Nora has got no one to tell her problems but rather keep them all by herself
and the lady in Barbra Kruger’s image is going through lots of pain and has got nowhere to run to. In addition to that,
both subjects from my literary text and non-literary are women and therefore Henrick Ibsen and Barbra Kruger are
trying to use their works in order to find a sustainable and equitable solution.

On a personal level I do feel that it is quite unfair for gender inequality to prevail since it has led to suffering amongst
not only the females but also the males which has really brought lots of controversy. Therefore both genders should
be treated equally since both have the capability to come up with sustainable ideas and solutions for the better of this
globe.
