Truss Bridge Reflection: Using Google Drawings, create a side-view of a truss bridge, using

straight lines to create a symmetrical picture.

What I Learned: This was the first time that I used Google Drawings, so I had to figure out the

software in order to draw my Truss Bridge. By completing the project, I now feel confident in

my ability to draw basic shapes that have symmetry in Google Drawing. The project took about

twenty minutes for me to complete, as the design was not too complicated. I researched an

example of a truss bridge, and got to work. The only issues I had were with the pre-aligned

spacing of my lines, but besides that, I am fairly familiar with creating line on Microsoft Paint,

so this was not too foreign for me.

ISTE Standard Addressed: 2.1-Learner. I believe that in this project, I addressed the 2.1 Learner

standard of the ISTE. The reason I chose this standard is because I am learning a new form of

technology in order to improve student experience. Google Drawings was a new program for me,

and I definitely can think of several uses for the tool in a classroom.

Application of Skills Learned For The Future: I believe that the skills I learned in this lesson

could be applied to creating basic shapes/graphs/charts for students who learn better visually to
be able to observe a data set. Later in the first module for this class, we will create a seating chart

and house plan, and the basic skills in this first lesson of course could be taught to students to

create various visual representations of data, such as in a geometry class, perhaps creating shapes

and calculating their area/perimeter, etc… If we were to actually build the bridges in person, I

would say that it could be done in a physics class or architecture in order to understand tension

and support.
