Your Classroom-Design a 2-D layout of a classroom, using Google Drawings, and include at

least 20 seats with classmates’ names, as well as various classroom decorations.

What I Learned: This project was surprisingly extremely enjoyable. I thought about past

classrooms that I liked and emulated those in my layout. The directions were easy to follow, so I

did not have any trouble making this layout. Overall, it took about a half an hour, and I learned

how to create a birds-eye view, or blueprints for a room. I also learned about using shape tools

on Google Drawings, and how to copy and paste to create an efficient room design.

ISTE Standard Addressed: 2.5 - Designer. I used technology to create a design and layout for my

classroom.

Application of Skills Learned For The Future: This project has innumerable uses as an educator,

as it taught me how to design a classroom without having to manually move things around in-

person. You can take a room that you know the size of, and create a layout for everything that

needs to go in the classroom, desks, chairs, etc… and figure out how they flow together. If I was

to do a similar project with my students, I would have them create a class design that they want,

perhaps sitting by all their friends, or by the window. The curricular area that this project could
cover again, could be related to mathematics. By measuring the interior of a room, we could do a

project where students have to furnish the room with the limitations of size.
