protector whose unquantifiable love and grace towards me, enabled me to
go through this hectic research work.

The researcher’s profound gratitude goes to my dutiful supervisor, Mr.


Onyeakazi who tirelessly and promptly assistance, reading, corrections and
his valuable suggestions and constructive criticism at various stages of this
work helped me to carry out this project work effectively. I cannot forget my

Lastly, I will never forget my incomparable and lovely parents Mr and Mrs.
Lawrence Ubakwem whose care, love and financial support has made this

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of industrial harmony in public enterprises ( a


case study of National Electric Power Authority Owerri). Pertinent literatures on
meaning, nature and scope of industrial harmony and meaning of public
enterprises and industrial democracy was made. Four research questions were
formulated in accordance with the purpose of the study. Descriptive survey
research design was used. The instrument used for data collections were
questionnaire and the population for the study consisted of two thousand, seven
hundred and seventy (2770) workers were used from the study area. Sample sizes
of sixty five (65) respondents were randomly drawn from the entire population of
the study. The data was analyzed using mean to answer the research question.
Findings show that strong employment relations create a pleasant atmosphere
within the work environment, motivation and company rules andcexpectations are
one of the major actors related to employee relations. The study recommended that
The relationship between management and employee should be characterised by a
concern for equity and justice and this will require the communication of sufficient
information about changes and developments.Also Motivation by work recognition
should be established to encourage employee to perform consistently and put their
best effort in work
