To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Lindsey Arnold, and I am a student at Aurora University. I am studying to

receive my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Secondary Education and will be student teaching
this coming semester (Spring of 2022) at Plainfield South High School. I also completed an
internship in the Fall 2021 semester at Geneva Community High School. I gained great
experience from this internship, as I expect to as well during my student teaching experience.
One of the most valuable experiences I have had coming into the teaching profession is
my three-year job nannying and tutoring an elementary school boy. I began working with him
when he was five and finished working with him at eight years of age simply because of time
constraints relating to completing my degree. While I aim to teach high school age students, I
feel the lessons I learned and the tutoring experience I provided for him will benefit me going
into the profession. I learned necessary skills related to teaching any age group including
patience, persistence, and understanding. A teacher must never give up on a student and must
always tailor their teaching in order to best fit the student’s needs.
I value teaching students lessons that relate to life both inside and outside the classroom.
Students have so much to bring to the table and if we are willing to open our hearts and minds,
both students and teachers alike have many lessons to learn from each other. There is no finish
line in learning.
I am looking forward to beginning my career as an educator and am excited for the
possibility of joining your district. Teaching is a wonderful profession but more importantly, a
valuable experience. I look forward to hearing from you.
