TOOLBOX TALKS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING AROUND THE EQUIPMENT

The following instructions should be followed:

1. Operators should always use their equipment at an allowable speed where they can safely stop when
necessary, and never drive fast. People need to be more careful in places where they can unexpectedly come
across.

2. Ceiling height should be checked during load transport, especially in places where there are entrances and
overhead lines. Work at a safe, remote distance from power lines and electrical equipment.

3. Turning and maneuvering movements of equipment and sagging of power lines should be considered.
Equipment operators must take care not to bump into objects and objects.

4. Equipment operators should not drive towards personnel working on the job site, especially if the working
personnel is in front of a fixed object, in which case there may be a jamming situation between the equipment
and the fixed object.

5. If personnel are to be working near the equipment, the equipment operator should give a safety talk before
starting work, explaining the safe working distance to be kept between the equipment. This safe work area
should be made visible by a barrier, safety tape or otherwise for the operator and operating personnel to see.

6. If this heavy equipment has to work in much more confined spaces, a signaler or flagman should be available
to signal the operator using predetermined markings.

If possible, do not work between moving equipment!
