Reflective Journal about The Importance of Mitosis

According to the video, mitosis is the process of a cell dividing into two identical daughter cells. the
division of the cell is only done if our body needs more cell.

The video explains to us why mitosis is really important. Mitosis is really important for our human body;
it helps in development and growth of our body. It also helps in repairing damaged cells in our body. As
the organism grows, the cells are continuing to divide. It repairs the damaged cells and by mitosis, it
ensures that it will continue the work of the replaced damaged cell. Without mitosis, our cells are not
going to even replace dying cells or even create new ones.

The stages of cell division are also included in this video. The first phase is the Prophase, in this phase
the chromosomes begin to condensed into a x-shaped and spindles also begin to form, and the
nucleolus is disappearing. The next phase is the Prometaphase, in this phase the nucleus envelope
begins to breakdown and releases the chromosomes. Next one is the Metaphase, this is the shortest
phase of the cell cycle, the chromosomes align at the metaphase plate. The fourth phase is the
Anaphase, in Anaphase the sister chromatids moves to the opposite end poles of the cell. The last one is
the Telophase; in this phase the spindle disassembles and the vesicles assemble around the two sets of
chromosomes. After this phase the cell will start to pinch in the middle to form a two daughter cells, and
this is called the cytokinesis.

Mitosis is basically happening to our body even if we are not aware of it happening. Even before, you
notice when you have a cut and the skin is healed, that is mitosis. You know people donate their liver to
someone, because their liver will be regenerated soon, and that is also mitosis. So, mitosis have many
roles for order our body to function well. Mitosis happens in our body for the rest of our life.
