The chart illustrates the percentages of people who
had different qualifications in science in Malaysia and
Singapore. Overall, the majority of both countries’ residents have no qualification in science, while only a small number of people hold a master’s degree. Although Malaysia has more people who completed the school leaving exams, Singapore has more bachelor’s degree holders. More than half of the population have no science- related qualification in Singapore and Malaysia, which accounted for 60% and 70% of people respectively. In contrast, a mere 4% of citizens in both countries hold a master’s degree, making it the least common type of scientific qualification. There are twice as many Singaporeans (20%) with a bachelor’s degree as Malaysians (10%). However, Malaysia’s figure is higher than that of Singapore for the number of people who completed the school leaving exams. While Singapore has 30% of its population having this qualification, about 35% of Malaysia’s residents achieved the same task.
