The line chart illustrates the number of incidents of three
types of crime (burglary, car theft and robbery) in Panama City
between 2010 and 2019.
Overall, the amount of burglary-related crime experienced a
significant decrease over the period given, while that of car
theft and robbery incidents witnessed little to no change.
Regarding the number of incidents relating to burglary, it
began at about 3400 incidents and peaked at 3700 incidents in
2011, before falling gradually to about 1000 cases in 2015.
This significant drop made burglary lost its leading position as
the most common type of crime. After the year 2015, it
increased slightly and fluctuated below 1500 cases in the final
years of the period.
Meanwhile, in the year 2010, the number of criminal cases
relating to car theft and robbery were about 2800 and 700
cases respectively. Whereas the latter figure was relatively
stable throughout the period, the former figure experienced a
noticeable drop to just above 2000 cases in 2013, and then
recovered steadily to approximately 2700 in 2015. It is also
important to point out that the number of car theft cases
exceeded that of burglary between 2013 and 2014, making it
the area of crime with the highest crime rate.
