The diagram illustrates the production of electricity with the help of
geothermal energy at the geothermal power plant.
Firstly, cold water on the ground surface is pumped approximately 4.5
kilometers deep into the ground to the injection well. There, it goes through the geothermal zone which contains hot rocks to heat up the water. Located at the end of this zone is the production well, where hot water is pumped up to the ground surface into a condenser.
Because of its high temperature, a large amount of steam is released from
the condenser. This steam is then gathered to power and spin the turbine. The rotational force of the turbine allows the generator to produce electricity, which will be eventually sent into the electricity network to supply households and buildings. This completes the process of how a geothermal plant can generate electricity from cold water with the help of natural underground geothermal zone.
