Adjust the process to fit your needs and style, Feel free to experiment! All of the material is optional, and aimed to inspire rather than dictate. Keep what's useful, and ignore what isn't, You can repeat steps, or draw different cards, or use a totally different idea that came to you while using the deck. These cards ate to help you. BUILDING A HEIST THREE DECKS. Separate the deck into the Obstacle deck, the People deckand the Treasure deck, Draw 2Peoete Carns, fk ‘One will be hiring the crew, and the other will be the target. No need to decide which is which yet. ‘The italic text helps figure out why the person might hire the characters, or why someone might hire the characters to target this figure. : DRaw1 TREASURE CARD. @® ‘This treasure is what is motivating the heist. The italic text suggests ideas for working the treasure into the story. Even ifthe treasure is not the target of the heist, maybe another step towards getting the treasure is enough motive! Draw 30n So Oastacte Carns. ‘These are special obstacles that are defending the site of the heist. (There ar likely also more expected and mundane guardians, like hired soldiers and locks and so forth.) ‘The italic questions give further prompts to think about hhow to bring the obstacle alive in the game and make it ‘memorable. SYNTHESIZE. Now think about who hires the crew, ‘who the target might be, how the people involved and the treasure suggest a site, and how that site is defended, Think about some information the scoundrels might get if they ask around ahead of ‘time, and get ready to put your own touches on as you play through the heist. You dontt need it all ‘worked out ahead of time, but this gives you a place to start and some ideas for challenges once the heist is underway! You can also use the deck when you are not building a heist. Pick or randomize an interesting NPC for them to meet at a party, or an obstacle acquired by their foes, or a ghost story about a treasure.
