ENGL 4021 M03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: August 31, 2021

Call to Order:

A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 M03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held in
room F-3 on August 31, 2021. The meeting convened at 9:00am, Professor LeCompte presiding and
Fabián J. Cruz Meléndez, secretary. All students attended except: Yahaira Roda.

Approval of Minutes:

Minutes of the August 24, 2021, meeting were approved after corrections.

Matters Discussed:

1. The meeting began with a three-minute Free Writing exercise answering the question: “If you
could have a superpower, what would it be? How would you use it?”

2. Professor LeCompte handed out an example of technical instructions to set-up a mousetrap. The
students compared the technical instructions handed out with the technical instructions that they
brought as an assignment.

3. The professor explained the elements of technical instructions. These elements are:
a) Title
b) Introductory Sentence
c) Steps
d) Labeled Diagram
e) Warning or Note

4. Professor LeCompte explained that Graphic Organizers are not technical documents, and she
provided some examples like graphs, Venn diagrams, and outlines.

5. Professor LeCompte asked the students to pair up in groups of two, then she proceeded to
explain how to make an outline. The professor later assigned students to create an outline with the
information they already had in their Venn diagram of the mousetraps. This outline must submit
by only one group member on the Moodle platform

6. The professor assigned as homework to watch the documentary "The Future of Food" that can
be found on Moodle platform.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:15am.
