Vocabulary Words
1. Adjournment- The end of a meeting or an event.
- The meeting adjourned at 9:00 am on Thursday.

2. GMO- Genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, or microorganism whose

genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory.
- GMO food is sold in many supermarkets around the world, but many people do not know
it.

3. Upcycle- The act of taking something that is useless and giving it a second chance or a
new function.
- I built a pencil holder for my upcycle work.

4. Monoculture- A culture where only one type of seed is growing.

- The most popular and common monocultures in the world are for sugar cane and pines.

5. E. Coli- Bacteria that live in digestive tract.

- The E. Coli bacteria are recognized for their strong symptoms.

6. Primary Research- collect data directly, the information is yours.

- I did a primary research at LINC Laboratory.

7. Secondary Research- Collect data from previously done research.

- I did a secondary research for the technical writing class.

8. Inhabit- Occupy a place to turn it into something.

- If I could inhabit this place, I would like to build my home here.

9. Outline- Scheme where you can summarize or brainstorm about a project.

- In technical writing class, students learned how to create outlines.

10. Riddle- A question in the form of a humor, created to ascertaining its answer.
- The students began to make riddles in the classroom.
11. Cover Letter- Letter that is delivered along with the resume where the candidate is
presented and says why he should be chosen for a specific job.
- We chose Luis for the job because he delivered an excellent cover letter and has a wealth
of experience.

12. Comprehensiveness- The ability to understand a wide range of topics.

- Juan's technical document is highly comprehensiveness.

13. Denotation- The meaning of a word.

- I built a vocabulary with the denotation of words.

14. Connotation- The idea that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning.
- The word abstract has the connotation of a museum painting.

15. ABC Format- Method that helps you create a technical document in the best way. It has
three parts: Introduction, body and conclusion.
- All technical documents must be created with the ABC Format.
