“The One That Got Away”

Leaning on the window, Angela felt so lonely after leaving their province to move in Manila. She miss her
friends, her simple life in the province but they have to leave for good. But that is not the only reason
why she was lonely, she miss Bryan. The first man she love. She didn’t have a chance to tell how she feel
about him. But now, it’s too late she is already miles away from him.

Starting her day with a forlorn spirit. Wearing her new uniform, walking on the unfamiliar street and
stepping her feet in her new school. Everything is new. Every faces, her surroundings, it’s all new. She
tried hard to smile in front of her new classmates and she think she succeeded. Everyone wants to talk
to her but it only irritates her. One thing that catches her eyes was the guy who sit alone at the back.
She draw near to him and notice that he wears a thick eyeglasses, messy hair, thin red lips, long
eyelashes and skin white. “He's cute” Angela said in her mind. She tries to talk to him and learned that
Bryan is his name. Same as the name of the guy she loves. As days passed by Angela enjoys Bryan
accompany and starts to forget what is behind. She only talks to Bryan even though Bryan speaks like he
have a problem in his tongue. Maybe he is not really into girls. Their friendship goes deeper and deeper
that they can hang out in each other houses. They are now in their last year of Senior High School and
it’s been 3 years since Angela approached the lonesome Bryan in his sit. Angela even suggest to change
Bryan's look and as what she expected he’s really a handsome guy. It was the first day of their summer
vacation. Angela and Bryan decided to hang out in the mall. They enter all the boutiques, stalls and even
the “World of Fun”. It was really a tiring day for them but for the two it was one of the most enjoyable
day they can have before entering a college school. They passed a carnival and decided to stop their.
They have a long tiring day but it seems they don’t want to end that day. Bryan holds Angela's hand and
walk towards the Ferris Wheel. That time Angela knows that she’d already fall to Bryan. And she wish
that he have the same feeling. “Tomorrow , I’ll tell him what I feel. It’s a do or die challenge!” Angela
said to herself. Bryan said that she wait and let her sit on the bench. He will just go and grab some snack
for them to eat. She wait but he never came back.

Angela is holding her diploma and her medals still wearing her toga. It’s been 5 years since that day. She
cleaned the gravestone and sit beside it. That night, when Bryan didn’t came back he was involved in a
crashed of two cars. It was far a way from the carnival. According to the witness he holds a pizza box. It
was her favorite, pizza was her favorite of all things and Bryan knew it. She dried her tears and talks to
the man mentioned in the gravestone. “Hi! It was one of my happiest day you know. I’ve already
graduated and I wish you are here to congratulate me. I just want to say thank you for everything. I
didn’t have a chance to tell you this words and it was so regretful in my side. I will never forget you,
never. I’m sorry because I can’t even tell you how much I love you and I really damn love you.”

Again, Angela didn’t have a chance to say her love for the second and the last man who make her life
the most wonderful thing she’d ever have. As for now, she already have her name known and the
reason for her success is behind a man named Bryan.
