devices often varies among people of different countries or business organization (Fulk & Steinfeld,
1990). The medium in communication can make difference in his or her reception of message. Media
and Technology Generations The progress of technology plays a major influence in identifying the
perception and experience of generations. Each generation has its own distinct characteristics, one of
such is how they use technology. Media generations are differentiated by unique media grammar and
media consciousness based on the technological environment in which they are born.Media generations
and societies as a whole consequently develop different standards and methods for evaluating
knowledge, experience and reality (Chesebro, 1984). Each technology influences people’s thinking,
sense of experience and perception of reality in very unique and specific ways. Media generation
Generation X (born 1965 to 1976) -Primarily utilize email and telephone to communicate. Millenials or
generation Y (born 1977 to 1996) -Primarily utilize text messaging and social media. Generation Z, iGen,
Centennials (born 1996 and later) -Primarily utilize handheld communication devices and accessories to
