GUIDELINES FOR ASSIGNMENT/PROJECT EVALUATION AND PRESENTATION
Himachal Pradesh National Law University Academic Regulations 2019 requires each of
the student pursuing B.A/B.B.A. LL.B. or LL.M. to prepare and submit Projec/Assignment in
each course. The very purpose of having Projects/Assignments & presentation thereof is to hone
learner's research, communication and other academic skills.
In furtherance of the above, faculty members are encouraged to adopt innovative
techniques in selecting and framing the area/topics for the Projects/Assignments. Following
methods are suggested: (i) Court Room Exercise, (ii) Mock Trial, (iii) Client Counseling,
Proceedings, Drafting of Contract, Drafting of Arbitration Agreement, Drafting of E-Contracts
etc., (vi) Draft Policy Preparation viz, Draft Policy on Anti-Ragging etc., (vii) Group Research
(Short Term.) (viii) Group Field Work (Short Term), and (ix) Legal Aid Research ete.
It is preferable to allot projects individually to each learner. However, in a given
ccase/subject projectassignment may be allotted to a smaller group of leamers, not more than 6 in
case of Moot proposition and 2 in case of analytical topic assigned in group. In all cases
individual topic has to be assigned by the concemed subject teacher.
In case the faculty member proposed any other method of internal assignment such as
drafting, client counseling etc., may propose suitable evaluation criteria and same may be
approved by the Standing Committee on AssignmenvProjects with or without modifications. The
overall evaluation will be 15 marks for written assignment and 10 marks for presentation.
The evaluation of these Project! Assignments and the presentation thereof is completely
internal. In this regard, adherence to these guidelines are required to ensure greater objectivity.
Separate evaluation criteria are provided for different types of Project/ Assignment and
Presentation thereof. The draft Formats are enclosed herewith as Annexure-I
(Dr. Santosh Kumar Sharma)
