FCCLA’s History

● Founded 1945
● Mission: To promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer
sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community
leader, members develop skills for life through: Character Development, Creative & Critical Thinking,
Interpersonal Communication, Practical Knowledge & Career Preparation.
● Purpose
○ FCCLA’s purpose is to help personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation

● Conferences:
○ Fall Leadership Conference
(September 9th-10th and September 10th-11th)
(Competitions will be held along with leadership sessions and fun activities)
○ DISCOVER training
(September 18th)
(Four leadership workshops will be held that day)
○ Member Madness Seminar
(September 5th)
(Provides resources and encourages future involvement.)

○ Fashion Sketch

(members design croquis based on a provided design scenario)
○ Impromptu Speaking
(September 9th-11th) (Members
express thoughts in an impromptu situation)
○ Toys that Teach

create a homemade toy that is a learning and play object)
