Reflection for Content Paper

While working on my group’s content project, I felt like I learned a lot in this

assignment. First off, we had to list expectations across the curriculum, and trying to connect all

of them together. The purpose of this was “to find ways in which the content can be integrated

for the purposes of instruction rather than teaching in isolation.” This project was very thorough,

because we had to go through each area, then list the subject (content areas) then list standards

that the students had to learn from this. All while connecting them and discussing overlap and

what not. My group chose third grade, and I think we did a good job on this.

So, even though I am first grade, I went with third grade to see something different. I

thought it might be interesting to look at another grade since I already see first grade’s

expectations and standards all of the time. However, at the same time, this was a challenge for

me. Since I am not in third grade, it was hard trying to discuss why I thought they had to learn

these expectations. It was hard to be put into the mind of a third grade teacher is what I am

saying.

However, I did the overlap sections, and I believe I did a good job on them. I had to do

my part last, which actually became pretty stressful for me because not everyone finished their

part early. I thought that this was going to affect my grade, and I thought it would make me look

bad. However, everyone finally finished their part and I was able to finish mine completely.

Doing the overlap part was a little difficult because I had to be the one that connected all the

information together for each section. Despite this, I feel like I did a good job, and so did my

group’s, and I learned a lot from third grade than I expected.
