Identify if there is an electrical or a hydraulic problem by verifying that only the correct solenoids, and no other solenoids, are powered. The coils can be checked for magnetism by holding a screwdriver close to the nut on the end of the coil. magnetism is present the screwdriver will be pulled to the coil. If the magnetism is weak, or not present, test the voltage at the coil Before making any test in this section, make sure that the hydraulic ol reservoirs full, ters are clean, allfuses are good and the batteries and charging system is functioning properly and the hydraulic oil temperature is above 100°F (38°C) PROBLEM: All systems weak or slow. POSSIBLE CAUSE ‘A. Hydraulic oil level low in reservoir PROCEDURE A. Fill with proper hydraulic ol PROBLEM: Header lift, unloader swing, reel lift and reel fore and aft weak or slow. If the pressure is below 350 PSI (2 068 kPa) check for bad pump or a. bad inline relief vaive, B. Test the reel drive circuit pressure, If the pressure is between 350 to 500 PSI (2.068 to 3.447 KPa) check the clutch valve. Check for damaged cylinder or a restriction in the lines and fittings. PROCEDURE ‘A. If the inline relief valve is bad it must be replaced Test the pump and if bad repair or replace as needed, B. On pilot operated valves check the main spool for sticking, the coil and for a plugged orifice seat. On direct acting valves check the coil and carrridges. Inspect cylinder for damage. Repair or replace cylinder, PROCEDURE NOTE: With the combine standing stil or without a header attached, the steering may not turn full left to full right. A. Cold hydraulic ol B, Test the steering pressure. Ifthe pressure is below 2100 PSI(14 478 KPa) check the steering relief valve in the pump, then the orifice fiting in the attenuator for plugging and then the pump for flow. C. Startand run the engine at2700 RPM. Make sure the oll temperature is 100°F (38°C) or higher. 3. Hold the steering against the stops. The pressure gauge must read 2000 to 2100 PSI (13789 to 14479 kPa). 4, If the pressure is lower than specifications, check the following, ‘a. Steering relief valve. ». Steering gear pump 1. Connect a 3000 PSI (20684 kPa) gauge to the steering pressure test coupler. Fully aise the header and hold the header switch in the raise position. The pressure gauge must read, 2450 to 2550 PSI (16 892 to 17 582 kPa). 4. Disconnect the hose at the outlet fiting on the reel drive pump section. Connect the flowmeter outlet hose to the disconnected hose. Connect the flow- meter inlet hose to the pump outlet iting, NOTE: The flowmeter load valve must be fully open before starting and never fully closed because there is no relief valve between the flowmeter and the pump 2. Fully open the load valve on the flowmeter. Start and Tun the engine at 2700 RPM. Make sure the oll tem- perature is 100°F (38°C) or higher. 3. Slowly close the flowmeter load valve until 500 PSI (8.447 kPa) is read on the flowmeter pressure gauge. The flowmeter must read 10.5 GPM (39.7 min) oF higher 4. Connect the flowmeter outlet hose to the reel drive return coupler. 2, Fully open the load valve on the flowmeter. Stari and run the engine at 2700 RPM. Make sure the oil tom- perature is 100°F (88°C) or higher. 8. Engage the separator and feeder clutch switches, The operator must be seated ec 8-90580 4. Actuate the manual eel speed switch and adjust the reel speed control for maximum speed. 5. Slowly close the load valve on the flowmeter until 500 PSI (3.447 kPa) is read on the flowmeter pressure gauge. The flowmeter must read 10 GPM (87.8 Vin) or higher. NOTE: ifthe flow is not within specifications, do the reel drive pump flow test at the pump. 6. Rotate the reel speed control counterclockwise, The flow must drop to 0.5 GPM (1.84 Vmin) or less. 7. To test the relief valve pressure, fully close the load valve on the flowmeter. The pressure gauge on the flowmeter must read 1925 to 2100 PSI (13.272 to 14478 kPa) Issued 292 Prinlod in USA. eott-14 Auxiliary Pump to Steering Flow Test 1. Disconnect the hose at the inlet of the attenuator. Connect the disconnected hose to the inlet hose on. the flowmeter. Connect the flowmeter outlet hose to the inlet on the inlet on the attenuator. 2. Fully open the load valve on the flowmeter. Start and run the engine at 2700 RPM. Make sure the oil tem- perature is 100°F (38°C) or higher. 8. Slowly close the load valve on the flowmeter until 500 PSI (3.447 kPa) is read on the flowmeter pressure gauge. The flowmeter must read 4 to 5 GPM (15.1 to 18.9 UVmin), 4. Ifthe flow is lower than specifications, check the fol- lowing: a. Stoering pressure relief valve. b. Flow divider in pump. . Make sure the oll tem- perature is 100°F (38°C) or higher. 3. Hold the ree! lit switch in the raise position. Slowly close the load valve on the flowmeter until 500 PSI (8.447 kPe) is read on the flowmeter pressure gauge, 4. The flow must be 1.5 to 2 GPM (5.6 to 7.5 lin). NOTE: Donotactuate the reel drive during this test. This test will show the flow going through the center of the secondary flow divider. Close the needle valve on the accumuiator 2, Disconnect and plug the hose at the header lower valve fing. Connect the inlet hose of the flowmeter to the disconnected fiting.
