 COMMUNICATION- portray our message and listen.

 REPRESENTATION- important because we are not representing our individual point of view.
 NEGOTIATION- in any aspect of diplomacy we should not be close minded.

SUCCESSFUL DIPLOMACY

Successful diplomacy is about reaching some kind of agreement, bargain, compromise, that
everybody can live with. So, the sort of old idea that if nobody’s happy with an agreement, then
it’s probably a decent agreement, because everybody has some complains about it, but
everybody signed up to it. So, there are various ways to describe this, but essentially successful
diplomacy is where in effect, some kind of agreement, deal or compromise is reached.
Patience is very important to reach the successful diplomacy. In addition, successful diplomacy is
about parley, the ability to say yes.

FAILURE IN DIPLOMACY
The lack of ethics. Walking away with enmity, walking away with grater division between the
parties, I think that is failed diplomacy. Thing is that, there are probably possible opportunities
where parties can reconcile one another but, I just feel maybe where parties walk away with
more division and more enmity towards each other that is failed diplomacy. The most important
thing in diplomacy is keep the dialog going. The first failure of our diplomacy is to stop doing it.
War is still part of the diplomatic process. Until you’ve reached all out conflict, what is actually
happening is how you’re doing in the conflict. Boycott is the kind of conscious severing of any
formal dialogue.

What is an Ambassador?

 Representative of a nation
 Chief of mission
 Explenipotentiary which applied to the ambassador means with full powers
 It is important because it enables them to conduct certain business transaction
 Not necessary financial ones, but diplomatic and political ones on behalf of the sovereign nation
