CONTINUOUS…
1. For actions happening now, at the
moment of speaking.
(Para acciones que estan ocurriendo en el momento de hablar)

It is raining outside.

2. To talk about temporary situations, even if the
action isn't happening at this moment.
(Para hablar de situaciones temporales, incluso si las acciones no estan
ocurriendo en el momento de hablar)

John's working in a bar until he finds a job in his

3. For fixed arrangements (plans) in the
near future.

How do we form PRESENT
CONTINUOUS?
Negative forms and
questions
Negative form:
Personal pronoun + auxiliary verb+ verb-ing
I am not eating.
Question form:
Auxiliary verb + personal pronoun + verb-ing
Are you eating?
Exceptions:

• If the verb ends in an E we remove


the E and add ING
(verbos terminados en “E”, le quitamos la “E” y
agregamos “ING”)

to live living
to have having
Exceptions:
• If the verb ends in a consonant +
vowel + consonant, we double the final
consonant and add ING.
• (verbos terminados en
“consonante+vocal+consonante (c+v+c)”, ponemos
dos veces la consonante final y agregamos “ING”

to stop stopping
to sit sitting
Exceptions:
• when the verb ends in W, X or Y we
add “ING”. (verbos terminados en w, x, y, le
agregamos “ING”)
