Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
I didn’t really know what I wanted to write about for my white paper and I was really confused about
the whole concept. Once I landed on plastic pollution, it was really easy to do research because it’s a
topic that I’m passionate about and interested in. I knew I wanted to emphasize how people could
make a difference in their communities.

First Draft (for peer editing)

My first draft my font size was way too big and distracting, causing my classmates to say it seemed
more informal. They also said I needed to change the font sizes to make the body paragraphs more
distinct from the headings.

Second Draft (for your packet)

I was really proud of my packet draft. I liked the colors I used and I’m glad that I made the words
smaller and made the headings stand out more. I thought my content was really good and that I
presented it in a easy to follow and easily digested manner by any audience.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

I followed the revision prompts and added a whole section about how my solutions would work and
also why they might not work. I added an additional paragraph about smaller changes people can
make in their day-to-day lives as well if a clean-up isn’t in the cards yet. I also added page numbers
and fixed my table of contents. Additionally, I fixed my paragraphs to be block with no indents. I’m
still really proud of my final product and I’m happy I added the section about why my plan will work,
and also showed my limitations. I think that the layout is super professional, easy to follow and read,
and that it has good information.
