FACTORS OF LOW BIRTH WEIGHT IN TUNGKAL JAYA EXPANSION REGION

WORKING AREA OF SUMBER HARUM 2020

Abstract
Purpose: Low Birth Weight (LBW) is one of the biggest causes of IMR, and is very influential on the
future of children's health as it can cause stunting and morbidity. The purpose of this study was to
determine the factors for the occurrence of LBW in the expansion area of Tungkal Jaya.
Research Methodology: This type of research is descriptive and qualitative research (mix method)
with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interview techniques,
observation and document review. The informants in this study were 3 mothers who gave birth to
LBW, 3 health workers, and 3 husbands..
Results: The results of this study indicate that. The factors that affect LBW in the working area of the
Health Center are the age of the majority of the mothers aged 20-35 years because the mothers do
not care what age they are pregnant. The distance between the mother's pregnancies was <2 years, as
many as 16 people, the highest parity was multipara as many as 14 multiparous. Most of those who did
antenatal care (ANC) <3 times, namely 13 people and there were no complaints
Limitations: This study only shows the factors causing the occurrence of LBW and not all mothers
who gave birth to LBW were interviewed due to time and differences of opinion.
Contribution: pregnant patient services at the Puskesmas.
