1. If a possibility of error Pe =10-3, determine the processing gain required for a CDMA system to
have 20 simultaneous users. (3 Marks)
2. FH/BFSK spread spectrum is to be used. The bit rate is 20 Kb/s. The available bandwidth is 8
MHz. (6 Marks)
a. Calculate the bandwidth require to pass the FM signal.
b. There is interference over 20 percent of the frequency band.
i. Calculate the maximum number of hopping frequency used.
ii. How many bits are there in each hop?
iii. What is the hopping rate?
3. What do you understand by fast and slow FHSS system? Which is preferred and why? (3 Marks)

4. A DS spread spectrum system of chip rate 10 MHz is used for ranging. If the reflected wave is
received after 0.1 mS, find the probable distance of the target. (4 Marks)
