1. Background of Study:
There has more institution in Melaka city. In the institution, there are many types of
institution as focused to improved Melaka city as good education. Its history of more
than 600 years is clearly evidenced by the existence of old buildings left by the
colonialists, the morphological pattern of the old city as well as monuments built to
appreciate the effects of the legacy of civilization.

Introduction
Geographical Information System (GIS) is an important technology to act as a tool of map with
many data that we can acquired in this modernization era in terms of mapping. GIS in urban
planning enables spatial analysis and modelling, which can contribute to a variety of important
urban planning tasks. These tasks include site selection, land suitability analysis, land use and
transport modelling, the identification of planning action areas, and impact assessment.
GIS also a tool where it is being used increasingly in urban planning to develop or developing
certain areas. It also helps planners to analyze the problems quickly, formulate solutions and
also act as monitor progress of long-term goal for any area in development projects.
Nowadays, many planning departments already have changed to GIS software from mapping
system that they acquired in the past.
This study is using GIS as a software to assists the study about the availability of high
education institution in Melaka Tengah.

6. Summary
In summarized, this proposal report is prepared to identify the existing availability
of high education institution in Melaka Tengah. This report we will come out with the full
data that have been complete during process of data collection, data analysis and
expected output. All of this element is needed to complete this study. The goal, objectives
and scope of the study that were listed and been use as our reference when conduct this
study. This study will show the existence of higher education institutions available in
Melaka Tengah and whether the need to add this facility.
