1) What are you interested to explore and why?

I would like to research on VAK learning styles among remedial students. VAK is an
abbreviation, V (visual), A (auditory) and K (kinesthetic). Every students has different learning
ability and differences. Teaching in school is not providing differentiate learning for all group of
students. Thus this research is to provide a guidance module to teach students using VAK model.
I would like to research on remedial students.

2) Existing knowledge? 

My prior knowledge in this research is my first degree on remedial education. Different student
has different learning style.

3) What you find from Literature Review?

Children should have the opportunity to have fun in the classroom whilst feeling a sense of
exploration (Hayes, 1999). There are many methods to encourage enjoyable learning experiences
for example: practical work – shows, drama, puppets (kinesthetic), discussions and listening,
sounds, emphasizing key words, musical stimulation (auditory); and mind maps, films, pictures
and flow charts (visual) (Bricheno and Younger, 2004). Learning style differs be-tween Males
and females. Males tend to be more kinesthetic, and visual, and need more mobility in a more
informal environment than females. Males tend to learn less by listening. Females more than
males tend to be auditory, sit at classroom desks and chairs. According to Tatarintseva A. (2002)
Females also tend to be quieter while teaching.
 4) What are your personal bias?

Different teaching style using VAK model improves students learning.

5) What are your proposed research questions?

- Does VAK model based module improves remedial students’ academic achievement?
