ANECDOTE
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines
supports the national government's call for enhanced community quarantine
(ECQ), and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)
has been more prevalent, which paved way for us young leaders to seize
this opportunity. We, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, were able to carry out
our agenda by utilizing our expertise and skills in this field.
Our events and forums included a wide range of topics and issues,
including netiquette, anti-violence against women, mental health issues, voter
education, equality, malnutrition and many others. These initiatives raised
awareness of these issues among our fellow citizens and co-girl scouts.
We also conduct competitions where young ladies, like ourselves, may show
off our skills in developing publication materials, virtual quiz bees, and the
like.
Take, for instance, our Girl Powered Nutrition program. This has
provided our organization with numerous learning opportunities. This
particular WAGGGS event reaffirmed our Girl Scouts' diverse
backgrounds, talents, and capacities, with the use of digital technology
playing a pivotal role in spreading our advocacy. At such a young age, we
had a strong desire to address the various forms of malnutrition that
existed in their communities. Many people watched their unyielding resolve as
we pushed our causes to local, national, and international levels.
