THE BOX.

Before we begin, it is important you read the first few pages of this booklet to familiarise
yourself with abbreviations and reading this pattern.
Let’s get started!
We begin with the base of the box. First thread your needle with a comfortable length of
thread. You will need to join new threads as you go, so use the length you are happiest with.

Round 1.
Pick up 4A, pass through all four beads
again leaving a short tail, and tie a knot.
Do not tie too tightly or you could break
the beads.
Pass through the first A again ready to
begin round 2.

Round 2.
[Pick up 1B, pass through the next A]
four times. Step up by passing through
the first B just added.
(nc) 1B …x4

Round 3.
[Pick up 3A, pass through the next B]
four times. Step up by passing through
the first A just added.
(3A) … x4

Round 4.
[Exiting the first of the (3A) added in
round 3, pick up 2A, skip the second A
from round 3 and pass through the third
A. Pick up 1B, pass through the first of
the next 3A from round 3] four times.
Step up.
(2A over the A) 1B … x4

Round 5.
[Exiting the first of the (2A) added in
round 4, pick up 2A and pass through
the second A from round 4. Pick up 1B,
pass through the next B along the edge,
pick up 1B, pass through the first of the
(2A) from round 4] four times. Step up.

(2A) 2B … x4

Round 6.
[Exiting the first of the (2A) added in
round 5, pick up 1A and pass through
the second A from round 5. Pick up 1B,
pass through the next B along the edge,
pick up 1B, pass through the next B, pick
up 1B, pass through the first of the (2A)
from round 5] four times. Step up.

(1A) 3B … x4

Round 7.
[Exiting the (1A) added in round 6, pick
up 1B and pass through the next B from
round 6 along the edge. Pick up 1B, pass
through the next B along the edge, pick
up 1B, pass through the next B, pick up
1B, pass through the (1A) from round 6]
four times. Step up.

of the corner processes. Each sequence is repeated on all four edges, and don’t forget to step
up at the end of each round.

You will notice that there is a slight dome


forming on the base. This will be hidden by
the skirt you will add later.

We continue straight for the four sides of the
box now, so there are no increases for the
next 26 rounds.
Rounds 29 -54. Repeat rounds 27 and 28.

Now we begin the decreases at the top.

securely and trim.

THE SKIRT
Attach a new thread on the lower side of the box near the foundation, and weave through to
exit the last foundation bead on any side. Remember to step up at the end of each round.
