discovered the first in-
the-wild UEFI rootkit,
dubbed LoJax. The research
team has shown that the Sednit
group (one of the world’s most
active APT groups) used different
components of the LoJax malware to
target government organizations in the
Balkans and C&E Europe. UEFI rootkits
are extremely dangerous tools for launching
cyberattacks. They serve as a key to the whole
computer, are almost impossible to detect and
survive reinstallation of the operating system and
hard disk replacement. ESET UEFI Scanner is one
of the only tools on the market designed to detect
malicious components in a PC’s firmware.
