1. Clock and Time:

1. The reflex angle between the hands of the clock at 10:30 is: MEDIUM

a. 220°
b. 180°
c. 222°
d. 225°

ANS: d. 225°

Solution:
Angle traced by the hour hand in 21/2 hrs = ( (360/12) * (21/2) ) =315°
Angle traced by minute hand in 30 min = ( (360/60) * 30 ) = 180 °
Hence, Reflex angle = 360° - ( 315 - 180 ) ° = 225°

10
ANS: a. 10 11 min. past 8

Solution:
When the hands of the clock are in the same straight line but not together,
they are 30 minute spaces apart.
At 8 o’clock, they are 20 min spaces apart.
Therefore, minute hand will have to gain only 10 min spaces.
55 min spaces are gained in 60 min.
10
10 min spaces are gained in ( (60/55) * 10 ) = 10 11 min.
10
Therefore, required time = 10 11 min. past 8.
