Abstract

The choice of selection of the house -


To study and document the traditional architecture of the village
head or pannaiyar house.

The traditional pannaiyar house was selected at periya theru of


parapannur village.

The village surrounds with agricultural lands, three ponds,


one main access road and 103 houses.

It is having five pannaiyar houses.


In which three of them are migrated.

The family is using the north side as entry because of the new road access.

Before 45 yrs - 4 members
Age of the house - 80 years old

The residence is located at south facing Owner - Pattamuniyar (pannaiyar)

The pond located at front and backside of the house. The pannaiyar shows its highness by the hieght of plinth.

should not fall on the house, at least between

house as their roots can damage the foundation and
compound wall.

Good trees to be planted in a house compound

coconut, neem,betel, sandalwood, lemon, pineap-


ple, bilva, almond, jackfruit, pomegranate, mango,
amla,and kathazhai.

- Wall - thickness - 52 cm - brick

- Wall finishes - cement , paint - blue - peace wealth

- Door and windows - mango tree wood

- Beam - jackfruit tree , neem tree

- Columns - Banyan tree , poovarasam tree

- Truss - palm wood

- Roofing - teak wood

- Flooring - jali , sand , cement , red oxide

- Roof tiles - pot tiles - from clay

- muttram - iron rod , aluminium gutter .

Feauture renovations - wooden columns in muttram are made to concrete columns , wall and floor finishes made before 5 yrs.
Well being of the family

The pannaiyar family is living a happy prosperous life with

wealth and health. There is gradual increase in their wealth.

They told their muttram as the only consideration of vaastu

bramasthanam those days. Having cow shed is for prosperity.

The two members of their family also earning well out of their

village. The house remains same except few of the muttram

columns and colour wash are done before 5 yr.
