EXAMPLES WITH VERB "to be"
AND MEANING.
1. FOR SOMETHING THAT EXISTS ALREADY.

There is a rabbit inside.

There is nothing in the fridge.

There is a problem...
There is a difference.

2. FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS.

The party is tonight.


The meeting is down the hall.

Come, it is over there.

3. TO SHOW LOCATION.

She is at school.
She is home.

The food is on the table.

4. TO SHOW IDENTITY.

She is Alexis and this is Bob.


He is a singer.

He is not a singer.
5. TO SHOW QUALITY.

She is beautiful.

It is stinky.

This is dangerous.

A demonstrative pronoun
represents a thing or things:
 near in distance or time (this, these)
 far in distance or time (that, those)
near far

singular this that

plural these those

Here are some examples with demonstrative pronouns, followed by an illustration:

AS YOU CAN SEE: THIS is use for singular and NEAR and THAT for singular but FAR

THESE for singular and NEAR and THOSE for plural and FAR
