There are arguments support the idea that being proficient in an international language in
addition to mother tongue is crucial for children around the world. In my opinion, while I partly agree
with that point of view, I also believe that using a universal language well may be useless in several
situations.

It is undeniable that the ability to use an international language such as English, French and so
on is very essential for the kids. At the first place, being able to use global language give them
opportunities to get a well-paid job in the future. As the world has more and more international
companies, the demand for employees who can have conversations with colleagues from different
countries is much higher than ever. Learning to speak international language while being children help
people have more time to practice and improve their proficiency. Secondly, learning another language
beside their native language help children develop their brains. For example, learning a wide range of
vocabulary by heart help the kids enhance their ability of remembering as well as information
processing.

On the other hand, there are many international languages, so the language a child learn may be
useless in some cases. For example, although English is the most prominent language in the world, it is
not very popular in several Asian nations such as China and Japan. Therefore, if the kids have vacations
in those countries, knowing a universal language may not be necessary compared to hiring a tourguide
who can speak the native language of visitors. Besides, some children find it boring and more
challenging to learn a global language compared to their favourite subjects such as drawing or Maths. I
believe that children should have right to choose the fields they want to study according to their
strenghs and abilities.

In conclusion, althought I believe that children should acquired a universal language for many
advantages, I also suppose that a language which is spoken worldwide may be unnecessary in some
cases.
