Talend Call Script

Ring...

Lin: Hello, this is Lin.

BDR: Hi Lin, this is ___________ from Talend. Did I get you at a bad time?

Lin: No, I have a few minutes, but I’m busy so get to the point. What are you calling about?

BDR: I’m doing an internship with Talend, and I’m calling to invite you to an exciting event that we’re
running. First though, I want to confirm, are you Director of IT at Acme?

Lin: Yeah, I’m director of IT. I manage about 25 people in the organization.

BDR: Nice, are you involved with Data Management or Data integration initiatives at Acme?

Lin: Yeah, my team handles all components of our data.

BDR: Excellent, are you utilizing a data lake?

Lin: No, we don’t have a lake. We have a more traditional data warehouse.

BDR: Thanks for that info. I appreciate the background. I’ll get to the point because I know you are busy.
I’m doing any internship with Talend, one of the global leaders in data management practices. Talend has
an entire platform that supports some of the world’s largest companies – Goldman Sachs, Bank of America,
Samsung to name a few. Are you doing a lot of analysis on the data?

Lin: We have an analytics team that is doing a LOT of analysis and machine learning models on the data.
Pretty crazy stuff.

BDR: How easy is it to get data from different sources into the data warehouse?

Lin: Oh, it is incredibly painful. We spend hours working on ETL and other data batch. It takes my team
hundreds of hours a month.

BDR: Tell me more about that...

Lin: Well, I have 6 dedicated staff and a whole team of outsourced help. Marketing wants to run strategic
analysis on sales data, customer segmentation data, finance data and it is in reality a huge pain for me. I
know it is strategic for the business, but it take a lot of time.

BDR: It sounds like a pretty big effort. Are you using any technology platforms to help with the issue?

Lin: Yeah we use a whole consortium of tools... Hadoop, Spark, Apache, Mulesoft, Informatica.

BDR: Well Lin, thanks for all of that background. It sounds like there may be a fit with your efforts and
Talend which can help across all of those points. As part of my internship, I want to invite you to a Talend
event happening from May 7th to 9th. There will be talks from our customers on all of the issues and topics
you mentioned. Would you have any interest in attending?

Lin : Thanks for the offer, but I’m really busy and these shows are all about selling me products. (Insert
other objections here)

BDR: I hear your concern, and I know how a lot of these shows are ALL about vendors hounding
prospects. The cool thing about this show is that it is far less about buying Talend software and more about
community. And there won’t be 100 vendors at the show like a lot of these big data conferences, just
Talend and a few strategic/ value-add partners. Does that sound like more of a fit for you?

Lin: It actually does sound a lot better. Where is the show?

BDR: Well the show is in New York which is fairly near for you. Also... the event is free. Does that make it
more compelling?

Lin: You know, it isn’t about the money. I just don’t think I’ll get value out of it and I’m so busy. I don’t
have time.

BDR: Again, I hear you there. Per our chat, I know you have a lot going on. I want to challenge your
thinking there though... if you have a tool that gave you a 5-10X performance advantage, how much time
would you save? And if you learned some techniques and best practices being used by your peers, that
could save you hundreds of hours per quarter, then one day at a show would be valuable. And... you’d have
a good excuse to get out of the office for a bit ☺

Lin: Well... you make a good point. I guess I can make it.

BDR: Great - I can register you on the website right now.

*Register the prospect*

BDR: Looks like you’re all set. If you are interested, I can also connect you to my counterpart at Talend
who will send you even more detailed info. Does that sound good?

Lin: Yeah it does, please connect me.

BDR: Great. I will right now. Thanks Lin! Have a good day.

Lin: You too! Thanks!
