A piece of evidence about the past especially na account kept in writing

or some other permanent form.

Documentation is similar to record.

Document- a piece of information or evidence or something that serves as an official record.

Documenting- to record something in written, photographic or other form. More of like capturing the
moment or even to give as an evidence later on.

Recording- recording is to set something down or to preserve it in a way that keeps permanent. The
action of capturing or process of recording something like a sound or a performance.

Retrieval- is to get something back i.e. bringing something back or taking something back. Basically to
bring something to the forefront.
