CX-UA CLI Script

Loading procedure
Communication Tool
• A communication software client for Windows PC is required to interact
with the CX-UA. Tera Term is free and available at
http://logmett.com/index.php?/products/teraterm.html
• Connections can be made via Serial COM port or via IP.

CLI Script Loading
• If using the Serial COM port method, adjust the serial port baud rate to
115200 to match the CX-UA console port. This is done as follows:
• Pull down the “Setup” menu and the “Tera Term: Serial port setup” menu
will pop up.
• Pull down the “Baud rate” menu and select 115200, then select “OK”.
• Press <CR> until the CX-UA unit responds, then log in.

CLI Script Loading
• Using a script file of CLI command provides an easy way to load similar
configurations into multiple sites using templates and simple cut-paste-
modify method.
• Comments can be added to script files by starting a line with the “#”
character.
• A Tera Term macro is used to automate sending the script file lines to
the CX-UA unit.
• Memotec supplies the required macro file:
– “Memotec CLI Script Runner V4.2” is used to automate loading
script files.
• Any text editor can be used to open and modify script and macro files.

• In Tera Term, pull down the “Control” menu and select “Macro” (shown
below).

• A Windows Explorer instance titled “MACRO: Open macro” will pop up


and prompt you to navigate to the location of the macro file “Memotec
CLI Script Runner V4.2” to execute.

• Once you’ve located and selected the “Memotec CLI Script Runner
V4.2” macro file, Tera Term will prompt you to select the (configuration)
script file to run (shown below) and will launch a Windows Explorer
instance titled “Memotec CLI Script Runner V.42”.

• Once you’ve located and selected the (configuration) script file, Tera
Term will execute the macro file to load the selected (configuration)
script file (shown below).

• Once the macro file has completed loading the selected (configuration)
script file, you will be prompted to apply the configuration (shown
below). Select “Yes”.
– If errors are indicated, contact Memotec.

• Once the macro file has completed loading the selected (configuration)
script file, enter the following sequence of commands to save them into
flash (see next slide).
• end (to exit configuration mode)
• advanced (to enter the unit’s advanced mode)
• reboot (to reboot the unit)

• Script files are easier to control when using a file comparison software
such as those from:
– http://www.araxis.com/merge/
– http://www.scootersoftware.com/index.php
