ME41 Module G

1. A servo-driven actuator is programmed to

extend according to the velocity profile
shown in the figure on the right. Use a
spreadsheet to generate plots of
displacement versus time, velocity versus
time, and acceleration versus time during
this programmed move. Determine the
maximum acceleration, maximum
deceleration, and linear displacement during
this programmed move

2. For the kinematic diagram shown in the

figure to the right, the length of link AB is
100 mm and . Box A moves upward at a
velocity of 10 mm/s and accelerates at 5
mm/s2. At the same time, the velocity of box
B is 7 mm/s and accelerates at a rate of 25
mm/s2. Graphically determine the linear
velocity of A with respect to B and the linear
acceleration of A with respect to B.

3. The crank of the compressor linkage shown

in the figure is driven clockwise at a
constant rate of 1450 rpm. Use a spreadsheet
to analytically create a curve for the linear
displacement of the piston as a function of
the crank angle. Convert the crank angle to
time. Then use numerical differentiation to
obtain velocity and acceleration curves of
the piston as a function of time.
