Elements of Machine Design

 Introduction
Welcome to Elements of Machine Design module. This module is offered to the students of
Textile Engineering. It is evaluated on the basis of class tests, assignments, discussions,
presentations and the final examination.

 Objectives
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
 Have a sound idea about fundamental concepts and definitions of energy, and gas laws;
properties of perfect gas and steam.
 Develop the initial understanding of the laws of thermodynamics; thermodynamic processes
and cycles.
 Comprehend the need for and concepts of the different modes of heat transfer
 Comprehend the basic concepts of hydraulics
 Identify the key concepts related to pumps and engines

Message from the Teacher:

Dear Student,
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with you
in this semester. I believe students can grow and develop by examining the issues we cover in class.
The main goal of my course is to give you some basic idea about element of mechanical engineering.
Additional information about the class is provided in the syllabus attached to this page. Please read that
syllabus and course content.
Also note that if you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls
and meetings (by appointment please) each day before and after class time. You may contact me via
mail: Arifurrahman165@gmail.com
I am excited about working with you. I welcome questions or comments, and am looking forward to a
great semester!

Sincerely,
Dr. Engr. Md. Arifur Rahman Miah
