Report on the 1st Students’ Forum

The 1st Students’ Forum was successfully held on the 3rd November 2021 by the 147th Students’ Union. Details of
the Forum are as follows:

1. Work Report by the 147th Students’ Union

The Students’ Union had a brief report on the working progress of implementing various services and policies. For
further details, please stay tuned for the official Progress Report to be published by the Students’ Union.

2. Opinions on the Sanitary Conditions of Lavatories

Based on the opinions received from Josephians via various channels, the Students’ Union has concluded the
following dissatisfaction:
● Unpleasant odour
● Faulty toilet locks
The Students’ Union will reflect the above opinions to the School Authority and the janitors, and will keep track of
the situation.

3. Opinions on the WiFi connection in both campuses

Some students have shared their satisfaction with their improved E-learning experiences with the current WiFi
network. However, the Students’ Union have also received criticism that they are still having a dreadful experience
with the new WiFi system regarding the lack of notification and a complex login system. With the WiFi system being
modified for over a month, we believed that students were no longer bordered by the complex login process.
Students may check their eclass for tutorials if you are still suffering from any technical issues.

4. Opinions on the Recruitment Week

Some students expressed that they were not having sufficient time visiting the New Hall during lessons, as well as
preferring a full-week Recruitment Week. Due to the pandemic and regulations from the Education Bureau, we
cannot allow too many classes to stay in the New Hall at the same time. Moreover, others have expressed that some
Executive Committees Members from various clubs used an unduly tough approach to recruit new members. The
Students’ Union will remind the concerned clubs and societies of the importance of appropriate attitudes while
holding activities.

5. Opinions on the current policies

In this academic year, we had commenced the policy of posting public announcements on social media platforms
such as Instagram; students mostly appreciated the idea, yet the consistency of this policy was doubted. The
Students’ Union acknowledges and ensures that an improvement will be made at once.
Secondly, some students have also expressed their urgent need for the soft-copy printing service. As regards, the
School Authority is currently accessing the possibilities of introducing the printer to satisfy the necessity of students.
Thirdly, regarding our proposed policies in the election period, we have been striving for the implementation and
they are currently under consideration by the School Authority. Nevertheless, the Students’ Union will continue to
work on its way and promise to carry out the policies as soon as possible.
6. Other opinions

● Opinions on permission of ball game activities

Due to the Education Bureau’s regulations, no ball games or intense physical interactions are allowed before the
school achieves whole-day school for all 6 forms.

● Opinion on both campuses’ sports facilities

Some students have pointed out that the sports facilities in both campuses are dilapidated.
Regarding this, the Students’ Union will reflect the above opinion to the school authority. On the other hand, the
recent Vision 22 project has a main focus on the renewal of facilities. The Students’ Union hereby encourages
students to lend a helping hand to this project through generous donations.

● Suggestion on the duration of recess

Some students suggested an extension for the recess. Regarding the flexibility of this suggestion, the Students’ Union
has stressed that an extension may shorten the current lesson time and further tighten the teaching schedule. Yet,
the Students’ Union will still take all students’ opinions into consideration.

In February, the Students’ Union will collect Opinion Collection Forms for the second time. We promise to make every
endeavor to uphold the expectations of Josephians. Do not hesitate to voice out!

Vision 22
