The Praxis test is a required test that was made for individuals like me who are pursuing a
career in the field of education. Passing the Praxis Core Academic Skills test is required by the
State of Nevada to be admitted into the college of education at the major universities here in
Nevada and to obtain a teaching license. The test is important as it is used to evaluate a
candidate's knowledge in various academic subjects. The passing score for the mathematics
portion of the test is 150 and the highest you can get is 200. To pass the reading portion you must
get at least a 156 which is also out of 200 points. Lastly, to pass the writing section you will pass
Before taking the Praxis exam I prepared mainly for the math section. I spent most of my
time using Khan Academy to study the math portion. However, I did not plan my time wisely
and was unable to properly prepare for the reading and writing sections. In my Education 201
class, I researched the Praxis exam information and used the study questions in the ETS so for
this preparation assignment I only skimmed the information as a refresher. Though I should have

Looking at my results, I scored 81 percent on the math section which means that I am likely to
pass. I would like to increase this score along with my reading and writing scores. Unfortunately,
I did not do well on these sections and I believe this is, as stated above, due to my lack of
preparation. I scored 55 percent for writing which means that I need significant improvement
specifically in text types, author's purpose, and production. Next, I scored 43 percent in the
reading section which means some improvement is needed for me to pass this exam. Although I
did well in craft, structure, and language skills I need to work on key ideas and details.
Praxis Core Exam Analysis 3
In all honesty, I am very unsatisfied with my Praxis preparation test results and will need
to create new study habits so that I can do well on the actual test. I plan to begin to study weekly
and focus on one subject a week. For example, I will work through reading one week and writing
the next. I plan to utilize Khan Academy since it helped me in my math portion when I did study.
I hope that this will also improve my scores in reading and writing. In addition, I will look
through the Praxis exam preparation books that are in the CSN Charleston library and will use
