When I Decided I Wanted to be A Teacher

I was hanging out at my stepmother’s house a few months ago and I noticed that every

time I go to play with my niece, they eventually tell her to leave me alone or go play in her

room alone. They figure she bothers me or that I do not know how to speak up for myself to tell

her to leave me alone. But she is not bothering me at all. I genuinely enjoy spending time with

her and playing along in her games. Most of my family does not give their time and patience to

my niece and it breaks my heart. Her eyes light up when I come over to visit and she knows play

time is on! This got me thinking that I have always been this way around children. They

gravitate to me naturally and I have always embraced them. I have done tons of babysitting for

my family and have had a lot of time to observe what I think these children need to learn and

be successful in life. They need a listener, someone with great patience and an open mind. They

need someone who will not judge them but let them fully express themselves. This is when I

realized I am the guide that these new generations need. I want to be kindergarten teacher you

remember for the rest of your life because you remember all the little tips and tricks, I taught

you. Now you use these tips in your everyday life and they continue to help you learn forever.
