CONTRASTIVE
I have learned that aside from just a curriculum,
there’s an important reason for studying CLA. LANGUAGE ANALYSIS
Those reasons are theoretical reasons and
practical needs. Submitted to: Dr. Priscilla R. Moriones

principle. And that is the second thing that I
have learned in CLA. Those principles are (1) a
learner’s interlanguage is a linguistic system and
a learner’s interlanguage in variable.

3. Contrastive
phonology
The third lesson that I have learned is
contrastive language analysis. There are also
different levels of language namely, lexicon,
phonology, morphology, syntax, nonverbal
structures, and discourse. Moving on to the early
approaches to SLA,beginning with CLA, CA
was established in the 1960’s in the field of
SLA. CA highlights the influence of L1 on L2.
CA compares the surface structure of learners
L1 and L2 and tries to find the similarities and
differences between two languages.Through this
process, CA predicts and explains the learners
difficulty.

them if there’s a system behind that. Also, they
approach differently. Phonetics is really precise
and phonetics is interested in how we make
sounds, how we hear those sounds, how can we
describe them to deal with them.Phonology on
the other hand is interested in systems.
