1. Site potential areas of improvement in the Philippine Health Care Delivery System.

Government-owned hospitals and medical centers are examples of these. Based on

my experience, whenever I go to public hospitals, there are a lot of people there, the rooms
are full of patients and the equipment and facilities are lacking. Due to this deficiency, the
patient had to be transferred to another hospital. Sometimes the hospitals to relocate are still
far away. This is a huge hassle and very time consuming. It also adds cost and tiresome.
Proper services should be given to people especially those in remote areas or those living in
rural areas. Public hospitals should also be fully equipped so that they can perform better
services and treatment. Also, it’s better if the staffs and doctors in each hospitals are complete
so that it will not be difficult for patients to find a specialist that they need. It will lessen their
burdens and worries. Hopefully, the authorities will pay attention to this immediately so that
people will not have to suffer anymore especially the poor.

2. Give suggestions on how to address decrease in the availability of health care

professionals.

In my own opinion, these are the following suggestions to increase retention of

healthcare professionals in the country: (1) Increase salary if health care/allied professionals.
Increasing the salaries of hospital employees is a big help for them especially to those who
have families to support. They can meet their needs and have some extra from their salary
that they can save. (2) Awards, compensation and hazard pay for both private and public
health care employee. Employees deserve it because they continue to work even if they are
experiencing personal or family problems. (3) Reasonable staffing ratio, patient: health care
professionals. An example of this is that for every nurse, there should only be a fixed number
of patients that he/she can monitor and take care of. It is not possible for only one nurse to
manage all tasks and monitor all the patients. (4) Support in training and education. (5) Safe
working environment. Employees must not get sick so that they can continue to work and
earn a living.
