Hereinafter referred to as the Consultant
Background:
The Client has been collaborating Alert Hospital- Armauer Hansen Research Inistitute(AHRI) in a research project titled:
Improving Experiences and Outcomes for Individuals with Severe Stigmatising Skin Diseases: Developing an Integrated Case
Finding and Management Intervention in Ghana and Ethiopia.
The formative package of the Severe Stigmatizing Skin Disease (SSSDs) aims to inform the development and evaluation of a
comprehensive, scalable and integrated set of strategies to improve experiences of severe and stigmatizing skin diseases
(SSSDs) – namely yaws, leprosy and Cutaneous leishmaniasis in South Wollo in Ethiopia. As such, data collection has been
going in the specific areas that were identified in consultation with the regional, zonal and wereda health departments. The
formative research is expected to help to a) identify the relevant stakeholders, organizations, and intervention approaches that
could inform the design of potential integrated intervention strategies in the study site, b) examine the systemic capacities,
organizational processes and readiness of the public health and local care systems to provide the current standard of care for
SSSDs and common skin conditions and c) explore the context and everyday lived experience of SSSDs and common skin
conditions amongst communities in the study site and understand the local care system from the perspective of individuals
Among others, the outcome from the formative study will help to develop co-creational approaches to develop and determine
interventions and associated materials and identify, develop and validate tools needed to evaluate components of the complex
intervention
During the last month huge set of qualitative data was collected from Kalluwereda of South Wollo zone, Amhara region. The
data is now planned to be transcribed verbatim and translated into English to ease data reduction and analysis..
Therefore, this agreement is made between the Client and the Consultant under a mutual understanding on the following lines
of Articles: to translate data from transcribed Amharic language to English at it appeared in the transcription;
The consultant will translate the transcription data he/she has transcribed; .and translate as it appeared on the

transcription.

When translating the Consultant shall make sure note of this points
Translate the transcribed data from Amharic to English following the same format as the transcript
o For words that do not have an exact equivalent translation (i.e. slangs, jargons),
The original word may be maintained in quotes with the closest description in brackets or footnotes.
The Consultant shall make use of Times New Roman 12 pts and 1.15 line spacing when translating the data in soft
copy
After finishing the translated data the Consultant shall submit the soft document by email to the Client
The Client will review the translated data against the transcribed audio based on the above criteria and will proceed to
the following task upon satisfactory completion of the previous work
The Consultant will work on one transcription data at a time to secure the quality of the translation
Article 2: Payment
- The Client will pay the Consultant a total fee of Birr 1,200 (one thousand and two hundred Birr, only) for translated of
a transcription of one hour audio file :
o The Client will pay the consultant each time after satisfactorily completing the translation of a ten hours audio
transcription
- The Consultant will not claim an increase in payment on the grounds that the obligations in this contract required more
effort or expense than was foreseen.
