St. Agustine used his time teaching grammar and rhetoric, and at the same time, he studied the
bible as part of his daily routine. Write books like On Order, The Happy Life, and The
Confession. These are the books that awaken my interest. These books reveal his opinion on some
topics, especially God, the truth, and happiness. These books represent the wisdom of God to
obtain truth, the knowledge about the truth that will lead to happiness, and the great blessing of
Augustine that lead him to his satisfaction. In other words, these books spoke about the steps to a
happy life. The On Order taught me that God does not allow evil to exist. However, we are the
ones that let evil exist within us. I understood that it is hard to comprehend God that we cannot
avoid suffering without the ideals of God. The book “The Happy Life” touches me the most, as it
defines the essence of obtaining knowledge to clearer perception, to achieve the peak of never-
ending happiness. Several worldly desires bring temporary pleasure to the individual. People
thought that to live a happy life is when you have all worldly matters. However, for me,
happiness is when you feel a sense of completeness and security. When you are with your loved
ones having mutual understanding and forgetting how fast the time went by being called Home.
A place where your questions, curiosity, doubts, and anxiety are washed away and been replaced
with unending satisfaction and acknowledgment that happiness comes with a deeper
understanding of truth. The Confession is deeply imprinted in me since it teaches me the life of
Augustin that leads him to Christianity. He shared his beliefs and voyage to the Christian faith to
defend himself from criticism and explain his side of the coin.
