Assessment Activity: Designing an Assessment and Evaluation of Student Performance

in the Clinical Setting (October 19, 2021 – 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM)

Instructions: The task is to design a specific tool or to assess or evaluate a student’s

performance in the clinical setting. The assessment/evaluation plan is to be implemented to
a 1-month clinical rotation at facility of your choice. All interns will be divided and assigned to
topics.

Specific Guidelines:
 The interns must discuss the nature of the assessment/evaluation tool and describe
on how it is implemented.
 The interns must explain how can it measure performance and/or provide
constructive feedback.
 The file will be submitted on AUF MyClass. Please follow the submission format
indicated in the assignment. This will be considered as your assessment for this
module.
 The file should be submitted on or before October 19, 2021 at 6:00 PM.
 A feedback will be given to the submission and the submissions will be re-opened.
Revisions should be re-submitted to the same assignment until 11:59 of September
31.

Submission format:
 Only file submissions will be accepted (.doc, .docx only)

 Write your name and section at the TOP LEFT corner of the document

 Use Arial (Font) 12 (Size) only

 Use Single space (Spacing) and Justify (Alignment) only

 Please include all the references used at the end of the document

The following topics and assigned interns are:

1. Merits and Demerits System – Flores
2. Practical Examination – Suba
3. Return Demonstrations – Magistrado
4. Health-related Seminars (topic of choice)– Dueñas
5. Injury Prevention Seminar - Manlapaz
6. Case Presentation/Case Conference – Reyes
7. Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) – Mallo
8. Intern’s Performance Evaluation Form – Mangune

Discussion Board and Peer Review

After submission of Assessment/Evaluation tool, this will also be posted in this discussion board
forum for discussion and peer evaluation. The interns should comment constructive feedback on
other interns’ work at least once using the discussion board. Feedback/comments will also be
graded by the instructor depending on the content and relevance to the submission. The day
after, you will also be assigned formally to another peer review in which you give another
feedback and score using a rubric given by the instructor. Student peer reviews will be
considered complete when students have commented at least once on a post and filled out the
rubric form for grading. Overall, the intern should complete 2 reviews: one on discussion board,
and one on your to-do list as an assigned peer review with rubric.
Sample Evaluation (This is a sample but the actual contents of your submission should be more
comprehensive than this)
LONG EXAM (Sports Facility)
Description: The CCCE or an assigned CI will prepare a written exam. The coverage of the
exam will include the following, but not limited to: anatomy and sports physiology, kinesiology
and biomechanics, sports injuries and pathophysiology, and management of emergency
situations. This is 10% of the intern’s final grade for this clinical rotation.

Implementation: The exam will be given on the last week of the month of clinical rotation. On the
day of exam, no patients should be decked to the interns. The suggested time of exam is
around 8:00 to 10:00 am or 4:00 to 6:00 pm when there are less patients. A CI must be
available to proctor the interns.
Guides for Implementation
 Only a maximum of 30 students per room is allowed to take the exam. If the number of
interns is more than 30, separate them into rooms or do the exam by batches.
 The room should be arranged wherein the students are seated at an appropriate
distance from each other.
 As much as possible, do not allow interns coming from the same school to be seated
next to each other.
 In the event of any sign of cheating is noted from an intern, the intern will be
automatically stopped from taking the exam.

Coverage of the exam

 Anatomy and sports physiology = 20%
 Kinesiology and biomechanics = 20%
 Sports injuries = 30%
 First aid and emergency response = 20%
 Others = 10%

Grading of the exam and Feedback

 The passing score for this exam is 75%
 The intern who garnered the highest score will be given merit points. Merit points can be
added to the intern’s grade or be used to cancel out previous demerits that the intern
has incurred.
 The CCCE or CI in-charged of the exam will provide a rationale for the test items. The
instructor should also discuss why the answer is correct and why the other choices are
incorrect.
 The CI must consult the interns who scored at the lowest 10% of the scores.
