Floods Crash and Encircle Almost the Entire Region of Kalimantan

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Almost all areas in Kalimantan are surrounded by floods this year.
Several regions in five provinces in Kalimantan are on alert status. In fact, some have been hit by
floods first and have not subsided.

The causes of flooding in Kalimantan have sparked much debate. The National Disaster
Management Agency (BNPB) said that the cause of the flooding was high rainfall intensity
because Indonesia had entered the La Nina period.

A number of academics and environmental NGOs revealed that the intensity of the rain was not
the only cause of flooding. They agree that flooding is also triggered by deforestation and the
climate crisis.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo, who until this news was published, had not visited the flood
site in Kalimantan and met the displaced people who chose to blame the environmental damage
that had occurred for decades.

My opinion from that news above is Kalimantan residents must make more water channels so
that rainwater when it rains flows smoothly and floods do not occur when it rains heavily and
also take care of the environment so that waterways are not clogged
