INTRO
Now we as today’s opposition strongly believe that this is true/not true, but
before we come to our actual argumentation, let us first define some important terms in this
debate.
What is meant by should the literature subjects/courses be removed from the college
curriculum?
We believe that literature is very important in developing the critical, creative, free and
liberal skills of students and people, regardless of their degree program, or discipline. The
study of literature at the university is not a duplication, but an expansion of theory,
practice, and its application in the university, country, and life.

Presenting the teamline:

We as today’sopposition have structured our case as follows:

I, as the first speaker, being contra with this topic and conclude our arguments
Our second speaker,MIKO will elaborate on the fact that should the literature subjects/courses be
removed from the college curriculum.?
And our third speaker YMAN , RAQUEL ABADAY,SINAG,RALPH ,JED will do the rebuttal.

Possible answer

Well, as a student, through literature we can gain more knowledge about the history of our
own country and also about in different aspects of life situation. It makes you realize how big of a
world it is out there, and that there is much that we have to learn from. Literature is everywhere,
and you get appreciate the beauty of it even more.

Studying literature teaches students about life, culture, and experiences of people. It also helps the
students to refine their writing skills and expand their vocabularies .It also helps to form a common
culture in a society, so your thoughts are easier shared.

“My opinion there, I don't think it's so good or it's not so acceptable to leave literature at the college level
because we all know that when high schoolers go to college they aren't that fluent in speaking. Filipinos if
they remove it in tertiary what else will be the way for them to fully learn moreover what if they remove it
to make the children in the Philippines globally competitive why don't other countries remove the they
say they are becoming globally competitive. ”“Why? Kase gusto nilang makisabay sa globalisasyon that's
one thing, kaya lang in terms of teaching naman mas naiintindihan ng estudyante ang filipino, kase nga
yun yung nature sa kanila, yung concern ko rin dito is merong mga subject atsaka merong mga konsepto,
na walag direct translation sa filipino, ok so yun yung point ko and I think yung pag-alis ng filipino, and
hindi masyadong effective para sa akin siguro, I'm against.”

literature is weapons in the promotion of truth and righteousness, especially in times of lies, injustice, and
social crisis. It is a sin and a betrayal of the people to remove the literature from the range of subjects in
college or any school level. There is a great need for all of us to present and fight for the literature!

Continued teaching of literature through the university is important as it is part of the formation
of nationalist awareness and the aspirations of the Filipinos of the students.
