STEP ACTION SECTION 0

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P R E F A C E

This procedure describes the loading of new system software-mode and the
copy of actual data from the old software-mode into this new system
software-mode at an operational exchange.

- Before loading the new software, a backup (tape or optical disk)

and a charging tape/optical-disk/NSC-transfer have to be produced.

- During the replacement do not make any data-changes in the

exchange.
Pay attention:
Data-changes can be done also by remote-access from NSC and
by scheduled commands `

- Unless specifically mentioned (see hardware instruction) the converters

of the extended-hardware have to be switched on. The converters of new
switches and new control elements have to be switched on a few hours
before the replacement will be started, than the CE's will be loaded by
dummy-software.

- After the REPLACEMENT all user modifications of alarm parameters

are replaced with the data from the new DLS.

- The report-routing data will be transferred by special-procedure.

- New reports will be included in the new report-routing.
- New logical devices can be inserted in some report-groups.
In case of a report-group-overflow a warning-report will be produced
by SLT-Replacement, then the relation R_E_WARN1 contents notes about
this warning. Warnings are non critical `

- After the REPLACEMENT all routine tests are replaced with the
data from the old DLS and the same test numbers are active.
For the extended hardware no tests are activated.

- Before the REPLACEMENT is executed inform users of SPC's

(semipermanent connections) that all connections will be
switched off for some minutes.

- The exchange must be completely operational:

SBL' s in faulty state must be repaired beforehand.

- NSC-jobs are to be suspended or to be canceled before the

replacement is started.

- All file transfer jobs to NSC must be successfully terminated and

the concerned files locally copied (saved).

- NSC-jobs and measurement-jobs have to be started or resumed after

successful and unsuccessful replacement.

- In case of error, the procedure should be terminated after consultation with

system specialists.

STEP ACTION SECTION 1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT REPLACEMENT

The replacement works on both PLCE's.

One PLCE contains the old software (old DLS) and the other one contains the
new software (new DLS). It is recommendable to use the PLCE-A (NA=H'C) for
the new software. In the following description this constellation will be
used.

PLCE-A is the replacement-master and PLCE-B is the slave.

PLCE-B already contains the DATABASE-EXTENSION-HANDLER (DBEH) necessary for

the replacement or it is delivered via ELT1.

After DISK-INIT PLCE-A contains the new software, the software for
replacement data transfer and control-relations for the replacement.
On the PLCE-A following relations are necessary for the datatransfer:

- R_E_STATV4 general replacement-control

- R_E_RRELV4 control-relation for real-relation-transfer
(relation-ID's, procedure-id's .... )
- R_E_DOR_V4 control-relation for disk-only-transfer
(relation-ID's, procedure-id's .... )
- R_E_FILE control-relation for file-transfer and transfer
of subscriber-feature-relations
- R_E_BLO_V4 contains relation-ID's to copy into PLCE-B for
blocking of relation-update

On the PLCE-B following relations are necessary for the datatransfer:

- R_EXT_HWSW contains flags for the database

- R_EXT_UPD contains relation-ID's for blocking of relation-update

******************************************************************

1. Start data transfer to the isolated PLCE

EXTEND-EXCH;

Note : This command must be directed to the isolated PLCE

Enter the password: "SYSTEM12-A"

Note: This process can last several hours, depending on the size
of the exchange. During this time, no semi-permanent data
(e.g. subscriber data) can be changed by operator, because the related
data tables are protected from further changes.
The relation R_EXT_UPD contains the relation-id's which are blocked
for modifications. It is not allowed to modify any data during a
replacement without confirmation by system specialists.

Every 5 minutes, an INTERIM report with the current status of data transfer
is produced.

Note : All EXTEND-EXCH-reports will be sent to the printer and to the

input/output-device (SYSTEM-VDU).
In case of a restart or a reload of PLCE-A the logical connection
to the input/output-device is lost for the next EXTEND-EXCH-reports.
These reports will be routed to a system printer additional.
A additional state-report can be produced by
password: "SYSTEM12-A" command: CONTR-EXTEND-EXCH;

12. CHECK EXCHANGE FUNCTION

After LOAD-CES it is recommendable to check as soon as possible reports

and some functions of exchange.

- check the printouts of loading-report

- have all CE's been loaded ?
- initialize all not loaded CE's

- try to make local-calls

- try to make external calls

(trunk-calls work later than the local-calls. The delay-time
is also dependent from the connected exchanges. )

- check the active alarms by command : DISPLAY-ACTIVE-ALARMS;

- check the running-state of controlelements

- is any controlelement in down-state

(only the TOP-LED is flashing)

- re-initialize the faulty SBL's (see the ALARM-reports)

Note: Do not start too many commands before BUILD-REMOTE-DISK is not

2. Choose a disk preparation

To prepare of second disk (PLCE-B disk) two different ways can be used:

case (1) The PLCE-B can be loaded via a BACKUP

Produce a BACKUP of PLCE-A and make diskinit with this BACKUP

case (2) No backup has to be produced, the SLT-Replacement optical disk

will be used for disk-init.
In this case after disk-init the DISK must be initialized with
parameter HARDINIT.

Note: HARDINIT will cause heavy traffic to the PLCEs and it takes several
hours. We recommend to choose this option only if there is enough
time available, until normal callhandling traffic starts again.
Choose one strategy `

3. Case (1) prepare a backup on OD and make diskinit at PLCE-B

15. LOAD THE EXCHANGE WITH THE OLD SOFTWARE AGAIN

This section describes general handlings for a fallback to the old software
package, if the functionality with the new software-package is not given.
This section describes the fallback-strategy to the old software
package, if the functionality of the exchange with the new software-package
is not given in a correct way.

There are three possibilities to enter the fallback procedure.

Choose the starting point, which is valid for your exchange :

(1.)The exchange is "running" duplex with the new software package :

Run the exchange simplex ( switch off CTLE D, 2D, DISK-B ) - rebuild
the disk of CPM-B with the old SW-package
Go to step 1 .

(2.) The exchange is "running" simplex with the new software package :
Do system-start-up based on CPM-B.
Go to step 2 .

(3.) The exchange is (still) "running" with the old software package :
Roll back all changes which were done for the SLTR
Go to step &STEP1203 .

1. Diskinit with the old SW-package

The exchange is running duplex with the new SW-package :

RESTART-CE: NA=H'D,SBLTYPE=CTLE,NBR=1

DISABLE: NA=H'D,SBLTYPE=CTLE,NBR=1,WTC=0;
GO: SEQ=argu1,REPLY=CONFIRM
argu1 = see SEQUENCE-NUMBER in DISABLE command ( RRN= 0051 )

Make Diskinit for the last BUP :

INITIALI:LOADSRC=OPTDISC,PARTNBR=argu1,SBLTYPE=CTLE,NA=H'D,NBR=1;
argu1 = partitionnumber of DLP of last Backup.

After the diskinit has finished successfully :

PLCE-BOOT:IPLCE; ( PASSWORD : INIT-B; )
Startup the CPM-B in isolated mode.

Note : If the NSC is not correctly disconnected,
then the loss of data/files is possible.
If this is the first fallback step, then restart the PLCE-B via MPTMON.
( AC D , CE RES )

Make SystemStartUp from the isolated PLCE-B with fasttest:

LOAD-EXCHANGE:FASTTEST; ( PASSWORD : SYSTEM12-B; )

Now some NSC-functions have to be re-installed

1. NSC-FILE adaption

After a SLT-Replacement in a NSC-COLLOCATED-EXCHANGE all file-attributes

will be taken from the new DLS. The NSC-files for BULK-BILLING ,
DETAILED-BILLING and so on have in general within one System Kernel Release
the same file attributes, but in some case, the file attributes may be
different. In such a case, the virtual and physical file-attributes must
be adapted. The adaption has to be done before the filetransfer is
started.

Note : All changes are done at the NSC ``

Use the commands DISPLAY-FVATTR-FA and MODIFY-DEDATTR-FA

2. Market segment adaption

If the new software contains a new MMC-package then also the market
segment-name is changed. In this case the access of NSC terminals can not
work correctly.
The adaption must be done in the NSC-exchange by modifying the SITELIST and
in the ATOM-PC by installing a new ATOM-package.

The commands of adaption in the exchange have to be executed at the

system-terminal.
