Architecture as a science

The architects of the new school presented themselves as specialists


attentive to the concrete facts of their science: architecture
De Laborde and his contemporaries escaped from what were in their main
lines the fundamental character of these studies and what consisted in
their opening towards urban problems and towards the human sciences:
an opening that frequently made the balance tip on the side of the wise
rather than of the architect.
fact-based architecture could give us a comprehensive picture of this
difficult balance and allow us a more articulated understanding of the facts
themselves.
Architecture as a science and the application of the formulation of
buildings. Leduc establishes principles of architecture according to the
classical conception; but later he is concerned with places and events,
with situations and with society.
Also for viollet leduc the response of architecture in terms of science, can
only be the same; before a problem there is a solution.
She proposes that the problems posed to architecture are continually
changing, modifying the conclusions.
In the reasoned dictionary of French architecture there is before us, an
unparalleled efficiency, few convincing concrete descriptions of
architectural works such as that of the Galliard castle by Richard the
Lionheart, the structure and individuality of the castle progressively reveal
from the Analysis of the building to the geography of the Seine, the study
of military art and topographical knowledge of antiquity
